In August 2008, SKZ German Plastics Center opened its first training center for plastic welding in the Middle East. Based in United Arab Emirates, the facility is fully equipped with state-of-the-art welding machines, tools, devices, and quality measuring instruments in order to provide the trainees with practical hands-on experience. This includes butt-fusion and electro-fusion welding, hand extrusion welding, hot gas fan welding and GRP pipe lamination. In addition, theoretical sessions are carried out in the classroom on topics such as material behavior, temperature related effects, site safety measures, pipe pressure testing methods and welding and lamination parameters.
Participants are trained and certified according to the renowned German standards DVS and DVGW. Training courses for the welding and installation of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) piping systems, as well as polymeric sheets and geomembranes are offered.
